This beautiful antique Victorian case once housed matchsticks.
The floral engraved box has a hinged top. The insideof the box is marked WRE.
There are 3 additional stamped markings including an anchor, a lion and an “m”.
The top of the case is also marked with the lion and an “m”. The bottom of the
case has an area to strike matches.
One side of the box is totally engraved with graceful curves and leaves. The
other side of the box has similar engraving. There is a scallop border and a
plain space perfect for having a monogram engraved.
The case also has an attached loop so the box could be placed on a chain and
worn as a pendant. It is large enough to hold something special.
Measurement: 1 7/8” x 1 3/8”
