Here is a fantastic find from the elegant mid-1950s era - a lovely slim, tan
leather-covered cigarette case, with a classic red, black and gold 1920s
Bentley car embossed on the front, and carrying the 'Kincraft' name and brand
logo inside, and the words 'Made in England'. The tan leather and car design is
absolutely gorgeous and so very Mid-Century Modern.
This measures 15cms long x 9.5cms wide x 1.25cm thick (6" x 3 3/4" x 1/2") and
opens widthways - the catch is on the long side and the case springs open
automatically with real enthusiasm !! It's a spring-loaded mechanism which
works very well.
Inside, this has a lengthways clip, also spriong-loaded, which keeps ypour
cigarettes under control, or indeed, your business cards, which is the great
idea for repurposing these lovely collectible cases.
CONDITION:-
The quality is fantastic and it is in very good condition indeed. A slight
dent along the inside of the lid, but only noticeable in the inside slightly
wonky reflection. It's so shiny and unscratched inside that I would venture a
guess and say this may not have ever been used.
KINCRAFT
Kincraft were clearly one of the main manufacturers of chrome engine-turned
cigarette cases in the 1950s and 60s, and their products crop up again and
again in the vintage marketplaces, but I have not been able to find out much
about them, so yet another mystery brand for me to conjure with !!
